Dan Oettel

Greetings and salutations,

My evolution as a singer-songwriter/pianist-composer has taken me in a fresh new direction. House concerts. They are a perfect fit for who I am as a performing artist. So, although other opportunities are certainly welcome, this will be my primary focus as an artist.

What is a house concert?

A house concert is an occasion where performing artist (or artists) play for an intimate audience, The venue is the home of anyone craving a high quality musical event for their community. Any home can benefit from live entertainment. From pot lucks to a refined formal dinner, house concerts can add excitement or relaxation as desired.

It’s very simple to pull off. After being notified of the opportunity two to three weeks prior to the event, interested guests, friends, and family should RSVP the host as soon as possible.

Set the expectation that the event is a concert and not a party, where people can expect a stimulating yet refined atmosphere. Since the event itself is free the guests should be reminded that a minimum donation of $15-25 is the expectation with all proceeds going to the entertainer. This validates the concert as a way to keep local artists available and well-practiced. Live professional music with only people you like in the comfort of your own home, for less than the cost of a movie and dinner out. This can all be explained in the rsvp and then you’re ready to attend.

House size is not as important as you might think. I require a space about five by six feet. So, if a person can accommodate that area and 15-25 folks facing in the same direction without visual obstacles then you've got it.

Research indicates that these experiences are rewarding and memorable for all parties involved and oftentimes becomes an annual tradition.

Currently, this type of performance is more popular north of the RGV, this is something that I believe should be changed.

Ok, that's everything you need to know about house concerts. I am available for bookings and feel free to contact me about any questions you might have.
